All the details.

  • Alarm System

There is an alarm system on the house, but it is not armed during your stay. You may hear it beep when an exterior door is opened, this is standard.

  • Basketball

Feel free to use our basketball and hoop. Please place basketball back in garage as you found it after use. Please do not adjust hoop height.

  • Boot Dryers & Ski Racks

These are a great convenience after a long day of skiing and snowboarding. Place your boots upside down on the dryers, set timer and toggle the switch to “heat” and turn on. Skis and Snowboards stay in the garage. Please do not take boots, skis or snowboards into the house.

  • Cell Phone Service

You will likely not have cell phone service on the property, as we are in a dead zone. There is a house phone on the kitchen counter, which should be reserved for emergencies only. We suggest enabling Wi-Fi calling via our wi-fi network to place and receive calls on your cell phone.

  • Doors/Windows

You should have received keys at check-in. One will work for the door from the garage into the house. It does not work for any other doors. If you received other keys, they work for the front door off deck or back door by hot tub. You also should have received a garage door opener. Please be sure all doors (including the door to house from inside garage) and ground floor windows are closed and locked upon leaving the house.

**The doors are three point Euro style and have a trick to locking and unlocking.
To Unlock: Pull door handle up, turn lock to left.
To Lock: Pull door handle up, turn lock to right.
If left unlocked but closed, the doors will blow open. Please be sure they are locked, or if you are having trouble, use the latch and hook system to be sure doors are locked.
Do NOT try to muscle the door if it is not working!**

  • Extra Beds

The first floor bedroom has a Twin Murphy bed. This is in the white cabinet just inside the glass door. To use, lift the top of the cabinet up and fold back. Then open the doors on the front and pull the bottom drawer out all the way (it will extend under the entire bed, pull it all the way. Sometimes it gets stuck on the carpet, so you may need to finagle it). Then remove the mattress from the storage area and extend it atop the drawer. Blanket and comforter should be in the bottom drawer of the cabinet and sheets should be sitting on top of the cabinet.

There is a twin air mattress (usually in the closet of the first floor bedroom). Extra blankets and sheets can also be found in the closets.

The loft area has a pull out Twin sleeper sofa. To use, remove the bottom and back cushions. You may need to unzip the cover to access the bed. Pull up and out, being sure not to bang the bed against the loft railing. Sheets should already be on the bed. Extra blankets and comforter should be in the basket next to the couch.

  • Game Room

Pool cues are located near the pool table and balls should be in the pockets. Please report missing items to Great Western Lodging immediately. Ping Pong table top can be placed on top of the pool table, but it is heavy, so please have appropriate help. Ping pong paddles and balls can be found in the bin on the table on the side of garage. Please place everything back as you found it when finished.

We hope you enjoy playing our arcade game as well - please take care of it and don’t be too rough!

  • Garage Doors

You received an opener at check in. You may park on the right side of the garage. Also feel free to enjoy the pool/ping pong table on the left side. You may leave door open when you are in the garage, but please close when leaving or upon going inside. Do not leave the garage doors open and unattended, as the trash cans will draw unwanted wildlife.

In winter, you must enter and exit the house through the garage as the snow will not be cleared around the other entrances.

The garage is heated to 60 degrees. Please do not adjust the thermostat - the temperature is set to protect our plumbing and HVAC equipment, which may not work at higher or lower temperatures.

  • Gas Stove

The gas stove in the living room can be controlled with the on/off switch on the back of the unit. Please do not the leave stove on when not present, and remember that gas prices are expensive!

  • Gas Grill

Feel free to use the gas grill on the front deck. Please be sure to clean it (bears love a dirty grill!) and turn off the propane tank when finished using. After it has cooled, please replace the cover.

  • Hiking Trails

There are so many amazing hiking trails nearby. The closest one is the Fredonia Gulch Trail, which is just down our driveway and to the right. You will see the entrance to the trail head right at the bend of the road as it goes downhill. For a trail map of this and other nearby trails, we recommend the All Trails app. See the THINGS TO DO tab later in this binder for more info.

  • Hot Tub

Before uncovering the hot tub, be sure all of the latches on the front and back are unfastened. The cover is very light and easy to fold back. To turn on the hot tub press any or all of Jets 1, 2, and 3. Each Jet button controls different zones in the hot tub. You can additionally control water pressure in individual seats with the star shaped black knobs located around the tub.

Do not increase the temperature above 105 degrees. Hot tub jets must be turned off and cover must remain on the hot tub and latched when not in use. Please report any issues to LocalVR immediately.

The metal ski steps are sharp! You must wear shoes to the hot tub, or place a towel down on the steps.

  • Kitchen Items

There are limited kitchen items available for your use (salt, pepper, foil, plastic baggies, etc). If you use the last of these items, kindly replace them before you leave.

  • Locked Areas

As mentioned, this is our family home and as such, locked areas are strictly off limits to guests.

  • Shuttle Service

The Summit Stage does have a pick up at Town Hall, which is one street further south of Silverheel off of CO-9. This is walkable in decent weather, but not in snow or with ski/snowboard equipment. The shuttle schedule can be found at the back of the binder.

  • Televisions

We have smart TVs. Please feel free to sign into your own service (youtube, hulu, fubo, etc) using your log in credentials in any of the apps. You can also stream from your phone and screencast to the TV.

  • Thermostats

Heat is hot water via baseboard radiators. There is a thermostat in each room to control the temperature. Please be mindful that the gas used to heat the boiler is expensive. There is a baseboard switch on the floor under the kitchen sink for the baseboard heat for kitchen if it is too cold. Please be sure to turn this off when not using.

There is no air conditioning. The mountain breezes are fantastic, we just ask that you close and lock ground floor windows when not home.

  • Trash

All trash should be placed in a bag in the receptacle in the garage. Do NOT place unbagged trash in the can, we will be charged by the trash company and this charge will be passed along to you. Trash will be picked up from inside the garage after your departure. DO NOT place trash outside under any circumstances.

  • Wi-Fi Password

We have high speed wi-fi and a good signal throughout the house and outside. The network is Blue River Bungalow and the password is: Breck294ski!
